I can't remember the name of a film - please help!

I went to the UCI cinema in Swiss Cottage in 2001 to see Moulin Rouge when it was newly released. It was sold out, so I saw another film. I cannot for the life of me remember what this film was called and it is annoying the hell out of me.

Basic plot: A group of people are stuck in the US I think (I assume they are stuck, or they would surely leave) in the middle of nowhere in a hut/hotel/lodge type thing one night. One by one, they are killed. The film is about finding out which one of them is the killer.

It was a bit Hitchcock, I suppose. It was the first film I'd seen at that time built on this type of premise, and I quite enjoyed it.

Can anyone shed any light please?! I have looked through listing s for 2001 and nothing is jumping out at me.

Cabin Fever? I haven't seen it, but it was that sort of plot.

It was at a motel if that helps narrow it down, I know exactly the film you mean, it's raining isn't it? Let me think a bit more and the name might come to me.

I think it's Identity (John Cusack film). Raining all the time, set in a motel, everyone getting bumped off gruesome style.

No sorry, I'm thinking of Identity with Ray Liotta, and that was 2003 apparently.

Identity? 'Stranded at a desolate Nevada hotel during a nasty rain storm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realise that they're being killed off one by one'

But I think this was later than 2001

Lolly86 Mon 15-Jun-15 12:04:15

Sounds like identity

Katniramal Mon 15-Jun-15 12:04:20

I thought it was Identity too.

Oops, cross post!

ineedabodytransplant Mon 15-Jun-15 12:06:15

I thought Identity was 2003.
But if it is Identity then...a convicted killer and a cop, a driver and an actress, a young couple, a family who had a crash on the road, a prostitute.

WaferInMyCoffee Mon 15-Jun-15 12:07:37

It sounds like Identity but that wasn't 2001...

WaferInMyCoffee Mon 15-Jun-15 12:09:03

Ha cross post with everyone!!

HellKitty Mon 15-Jun-15 12:10:49

I thought Memento as I always get the title mixed up with Identity for some reason.

WellTidy Mon 15-Jun-15 12:14:54

It sounds like Identity doesn't it? But i was overseas when identity was released in 2003, so I couldn't have seen that at the cinema. This is so frustrating!! I do like the sound of Identity though, so not all bad.

My Little Eye?

spiderlight Mon 15-Jun-15 12:19:24

I was going to say Identity too! It's a great film.

HellKitty Mon 15-Jun-15 12:20:20

Joy Ride was 2001, and there is a section of the film in a motel but they were chased by an evil truck driver.

BabyMurloc Mon 15-Jun-15 12:32:27

Is it this? The glass house? Released same year/month as moulin rouge and about kids stuck in a house being killed...

ThisIsntFunnyDean Mon 15-Jun-15 12:50:56

Or maybe "Do you wanna know a secret?"

Sorry for mobile link!

ThisIsntFunnyDean Mon 15-Jun-15 12:52:08

toota my little eye was horrifying! Shudder!

ThisIsntFunnyDean Mon 15-Jun-15 12:57:07

ha, not sure my suggestion was even released in the UK now!

WellTidy Mon 15-Jun-15 12:58:28

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like the 14 years that has passed has dulled my memory, so I have no idea whether it could have been any of those films. I will have to weatch them all! Definitely not at night when it is raining outside though smile.
