I quite liked this, though it is not worth an Oscar: it's actors pretending to be..er..actors, so no stretch there.

I did think every actor was very good, but the film went on too long and the magic realism didn't quite fit.

As a sign of the shallowness of the times, and me, I was riveted by the natural age of the actors' appearance. At the same time I was later appalled to read an article where Keaton was described as looking "every bit of his 63 years". Fuck off. Not because it wasn't true, but for saying it. I realises I'm being a bit inconsistent here.

DH hated it.

I thought it was utterly brilliant fr the almost one - take appearance of the story, through the drum soundtrack and the beauty of the cinematography. Emma stone was great. It was really smart and moving and intelligently put together.

I have just come back from the cinema and I have to say I was totally underwhelmed. The whole way it was shot seemed technically amazing but that plus the annoying drums just seemed to overpower it. The story was dull, the actor angsting boring, the comedy was so black in places it was non existent. I didn't hate it but I was bored. I couldn't work out what it was meant to be- and not in a good way. The last half an hour I enjoyed I think. But then I don't like the whole cinematic wankery thing unless it has a good strong story with it and this didn't have that for me.

I watched it the other week and was underwhelmed, unlike The Imitation Game which was excellent.

I'm looking forward to seeing this on Wednesday just to see what it's about, having watched the trailer. My friend who saw it says she wouldn't bother to see it again.

Liked this for the acting, mainly. Agree it's not really Best film material, & a bit self-referential. It takes a while - I would say 20 min or so, to get into it. Emma Stone, Ed Norton very impressive. You need to maybe be familiar with Raymond Carver & the whole Broadway do or die based on 1 review, which still exists & is ridiculous. loved it when Lindsay Duncan hisses at Michael Keaton " you"re just a celebrity" [i.e. Not an actor]. Tracking shots amaaaaazing.

Very self involved, of interest to actors & their ilk but pretty boring as not a great story. Michael Keaton ok but again a male mid life crisis hardly pushing the boundaries, really don't get the stellar reviews...

This was the worst film I have seen in a long time. DH couldn't wait to get out of the cinema.

Waste of time and money watching this nonsense!

I love all kinds of films but this one bored me to tears! Ed Norton was good though.

I thought it was just genius. Loved the magical realism. Loved the use of similar sybolism to "Biutiful" but with a far lighter touch and less tragic material.
