50 Films in 2014 - Anyone care to join?

I am on the 50 books in 2014 thread but I have also set myself the target of watching 50 films in 2014.
It works out to just less than one a week. It should be easy!
I haven't really set any hard and fast rules for myself, except that they should be films I haven't seen before. They don't need to be new releases or watched at the cinema or anything.
Oh, and I have to watch them all the way through! No falling asleep halfway through and waking up when the credits roll. Blush
Does anyone care to join me keeping track and sharing reviews and recommendation like we do on the book thread?

Sounds like a good idea! So far this year I've watched anchorman 2, 47 Ronin, 12 years a slave and Last Vegas (a skint January has sent my cineworld card into overdrive!)

sounds good, so far this year I've watched

good day to die hard which I unexpectedly enjoyed and found quite funny.

Arthur Christmas which dp and dsc loved but I found it a bit boring.

iron man 3 which I was really disappointed in.

the host, was rubbish

and tonight will be watching the new star trek film.

we got sky movies for free for 3mths which coincided nicely with me being laid up in bed with the flu

Ah, great, some replies!!
I was beginning to think this thread was going to be a non-starter, so welcome one and all. Grin

I have watched my first film. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
I was totally unprepared for the ending. Good god. I won't say anymore in case others haven't seen it.

Very jealous of those of you who have been to the cinema, I flipping love the cinema.

Nice idea, but I am so awkward that I doubt I'll find 50 that I actually want to watch. I would like to see, 'The Great Budapest Hotel' and I've promised to watch some Ingmar Bergman stuff with dp, but can't think of anything else.

I'll join in. Is it only films I've not seen before?

  1. World war z

It was ok but the end was very quick.

  1. Worlds end

This was quite slow to start but rather funny once it got going.

Burke and Hare
Quite funny.

I watched Black Book last night on Netflix last night. That was a good film, about a Jewish woman working for the Dutch resistance. It's subtitled most of the way through.

We watched how to train your dragon today. I think I probably should have watched it before I let dd2 watch it though as she found it quite scary in some bits.

I love going to the cinema, I go on my own whenever possible. In the last couple of weeks, I've seen 'American Hustle' which I loved and this morning I saw 'August- Osage County'. Julia Roberts is brilliant in it. I'm in the US so will probably get releases a bit earlier than the UK.

We watched 'Two Guns' on demand last weekend and I was really disappointed but my dh loved it.

They had a trailer this morning for 'The Great Budapest Hotel' and I can't wait for that (Moonrise Kingdom is one of my favourites) and they also had the trailer for the James Corden 'One Chance' film about Paul Potts, which looks much better than it sounds.

Im getting really into films as a way of relaxing from a hectic life! This year I've done American Hustle at the cinema, and doing 12 years a slave this weekend. Watched black swan for the first time last week and loved it as well. Got The Grey from love film to watch as well.

I like The Grey, with Liam Neeson right?

Very bleak, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I used to love going to the cinema on my own but I fell out of the habit, perhaps I should start going again. I might go and whet my appetite by watching some trailers on IMDB. Smile

  1. Stand By Me.

I have never watched this all the way through before. Now I wish I had watched it years ago. Absolutely brilliant.

Precious, I have added Sophie Scholl to my watch list on LoveFilm. I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep my subscription though, there doesn't seem to be much on it. Might try Netflix if I can get a deal on a couple of months for free.

I just went to see 12 Years a Slave. Last week I saw The Lives of Others.

The next film I watch will definitely be a comedy.

Planning to see Wolf of Wall Street on Sunday - anyone watched it yet?

Keen to reach some classics as realise I've seen precious few 'must see' films. Any recommendations?

Sadly I rarely get to the cinema, but I do love having Netflix and I'm a keen buyer of DVDs Wink
I saw Hansel and Gretel Witch hunters this week. Which was a fun romp of a film with great special effects. Cheesy but I did enjoy it Grin

Loved wolf of wall street! Saw Delivery Man which is basically vince Vaughan being vince Vaughan. Some funny bits but not one I'd rush to recommend.

Taking DS to see walking with dinosaurs on Sunday, heard good reviews.

Cannot wait until 14th Feb for Lego movie. Looks just fab!

I watched The Croods with the children this afternoon. We all loved it. Great kids film with several laugh out loud moments. Definitely be adding that one to the "re-watch" list for my little family Smile

  1. Tangled Blush

I think a lot of mine are going to be children's films because dp and I tend not to watch a lot of films but dd2 has just discovered that films are quite fun.

My niece loves Tangled. She calls her Princess Longhair! Grin

I haven't managed to watch any films this week at all, DP was watching Fast and Furious - Tokyo Drift the other night and I tried to watch it with him, but it was so awful I gave up and went to bed so I can't count that one!
