is it even out?

DS is POTC mad and am thinking of taking him to see it friday. hes 6 and loves the other 3. his little bro is 5 next month and am just wondeig if theres any bits i should be aware of

mind you he watches the other 3 and loves them too, never been scared at all.

Its just that POTC1 was sort of swash-buckling, more family orientated and I think they seem to get 'worse' each time.

Watched the trailer and looks a bit saucy (temptress mermaids and that spanish bird) is it??

I almost fell asleep tbh. (Film started at 9:45 though)

In my opinion its not as good as the third. It could have easily slotted in between the 1st and 2nd film.

And if you take your boys to see it, they will be scared of marmaids.

It could have done with some more editing; its a bit too long and rambling in parts.

Mermaids may well be too scary for some younger children.

Yep. I was totally bored and even the lovely Johnny Depp couldn't save it for me.

It just doesn't work without everyone else to bounce off IMO.

we saw it free at the O2 early (thanks Sky!) and took two older ones (8 and 12). Definitely wouldn't take the 6 and 3 y/o - it's rated 12a and the mermaids are awful - not cartoon scary, just terrifying. And it's a bit long, and confused. But, Jonny Depp is in it. So.

Do not fancy this really without Keira and Orlando. I felt Hmm when I saw the trailer.

Yes! I preferred it without Keener and wimp-face.

In fact it was the first POTC I actually enjoyed since the first one.

I am totally in love with Johnny Depp whether he's a spaced out, camp pirate or not and he and the wonderful Geoffrey Rush are about the only good things about the film.

The first POTC was fab but then 2 and 3 were poor.

This is, I'm afraid, not much better.

Some wonderful camera shots and panoramic stuff but sadly not many witty one-liners for my Johnny and a really poor storyline.

No chemistry between Johnny and Penelope Cruz.

I think Captain Jack Sparrow is a character that could be really expanded and (with Johnny's acting talents) really stretched but they just don't seem to want to do it.

Real shame.

Wouldn't bother to see it again.
