Cheltenham Races & sexual assault/rape/inappropriate sexualised behaviour
(1 Post)
GRASAC are looking for feedback or instances that anyone has experienced at the races regarding sexual assault, rape or inappropriate sexualised behaviour, including 'catcalling', 'upskirting', sexual assault, inappropriate comments, stalking or harassment.
#MeTooAtCheltenhamRac
In our experience as a service that provides information, advice and support to survivors of sexual violence; we have noticed that there is a significant increase in incidents of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment in the town during the festival. It has also been widely reported in the media that this is the case.
We want to raise awareness of the impact and harm caused by sexual violence, and also the acceptance of the sexist behaviours and attitudes that surround it. We are working with Gloucestershire Police and Cheltenham Borough Council to create a safer town during the races and it would be helpful for us to hear about your experiences to demonstrate the need for change. Your contributions will be completely anonymous and may be quoted in our project. You do not have to answer all of the below questions. Your time and feedback is valued.
