I am generally a happy-go-lucky person. I am 30 yrs old and a step mother to two girls (16+13) and dd (2yrs). My DH is 10 years older than me. I am starting to hate my life...

My saturday is spent - wake up feed dd, dress dd, dress me, go to shops, feed dd, put dd to sleep, cook lunch, clean house, do washing, cook dinner, bath dd, go to sleep.

Sunday - wake up feed dd, dress her & me, clean house, cook lunch, iron, cook dinner, bath dd, go to sleep.

Never enough money to go anywhere, DH never has enough iterest to take a drive/walk. Is this really what life is supposed to be about?????

Nope it's not what life is supposed to be about imo. Why do you do everything? I'd be unhappy too if I did all the cooking and cleaning and childcare but I have a partner who pulls his weight and quite right too. Have you told your dh how you feel? A lot of the things we do don't cost anything: a walk, seeing friends, watching a family film, reading, playing games.

He will do some work on the house (fix things) or work on the cars etc... Saturday mornings he goes cycling all morning and some Sundays goes off fishing. His two daughters wake up when they smell the lunch and then afterwards go lie in their rooms and watch TV till supper is ready.

This weekend he told the girls that because he and I are best friends we dont need other friends. Sweet of him, lonely for me though. If I told him I was unhappy he would tell me to Pack my bags and go see if it was greener on the other side.

I don't do any domestic stuff at the weekend - well as little as possible (e.g. putting dishes in the dishwasher)- I save that for Monday.

I work full time. 9 - 6 monday to friday so weekends is the only time i have to do housework. My dh is very jealous and if I were to just dissapear he would be upset. Also, I could not go anywhere for very long cause I have to come home and get lunch ready.

Well I don't think he's entitled to go cycling and fishing while you slave away in the house! Er I'd tell him to pack his bags if that was his response to my not liking being a slave! Sorry, I don't know what to advise then other thna make your own arrangements and go and do some stuff for yourself leaving him to look after HIS children for the weekend.

Sadly Cod, he never cycles with ppl. Always alone. I wish I could just walk away from a dirty house, but I know I could never enjoy myself if the house was a mess... and as all mothers of two year olds know - dd CAN MESS!!!!

Could You go out for lunch, or even just a mid-morning cake? Cyclists' tea-shops are usually fairly friendly places to take your children to.

Get him to attach child seat to bike and take dd to give you a break, or you could all go including the two big girls.

why can't you go out for longer? take your dd swimming and then to pizza hit. or shopping or to the park or to a play area

Why do you need to come home & get lunch ready??? Who for??? Is he incapable of feeding himself???

I do my housework on a Friday night - I spend about 2 hours max and it looks perfectly respectable. Leaves the weekend free. And why cook lunch? If they are 13 and 16, can't they make a sandwich? And when he gets back from his indulgent morning, tell him to make his own lunch too!!

He REFUSES to do any housework. He believes his part is cars, shelves, drains and those things.

why don't you REFUSE for a weekend and see what happens?

Would he get the message that you aren't happy if he came home after cycling and you weren't there, and then you waltzed in 3 hours later saying what a lovely time you've had being out with your dd?

he sounds like he is controlling you. that thing about not needing other friends is a bit scary TBH. and you say he is jealous.. well, it's textbook.
