Just been to the dr. for my followup appointment since starting on the prozac - this time actually managed to tell him a few of the things that are getting me down - if somewhat distracted by having to take both boys with me.

Anyhow, reeled off a list as long as my arm, looked at DS2 and remembered one of the things - keep gettig flashbacks to my horrible labour with him, and often find it 'on my mind' frequently. Told him, and he went "oh, right, ok" - and didn't even bother writing it down - really p*ssed me off that he dismissed it so out of hand

Next time you go to the Dr write down a list before you go of what you want to say and hand it to them. That way you won't get distracted by kids and you can watch Dr read it. Also writing it down helps you. All the best.

Can you ask to see someone else next time?

If he's not listening properly and dismissing stuff that you feel is contributing to your condition then maybe you're not getting the best treatment he could give. Do you think that talking to someone about your horrible labour and the flashbacks would help? Because if it would, then counselling might be a good idea in conjunction with the ads. Is there another GP at the surgery that you can see who might be a bit more empathetic?
