I hope this isn't going to offend anyone - or that it is oversimplifying anyones low feelings but I feel that there is so much sadness on MN at the moment - could we make a list of all the really positive things that people could do to make themselves feel just a little bit better about life.

I thought one idea might be for anyone feeling low, to sit down with a hot cuppa and make a list of all the things they would like to do with their child/ren over the next few months - for instance, take them to an airport for the first time, or go an buy the book for them which was your fave as a child or show them the sea for the first time or similar.

This is a good idea. I suspect we have all had our low moments and perhaps a list of "pick me ups" would be a good idea.

I am having some counselling at the moment and one of the things I am doing this week is making a time to do something positive for me everyday - even if that is just a soak in the bath with a crossword.

Or a list of "What's good about me" What are my strengths? Something to read through when feeling low.

I agree with setting aside a little bit of time every day where you are strict with yourself and do something for you. A routine set up - same time, every day.

I know this is a really pathetic suggestion if you are feeling really depressed - but if i am feeling down / everything getting on top of me i find that listening to my favourite music REALLY helps to uplift me and give me inspiration.

Get in touch with a friend. We had dd2's blessing on Sunday and it was so nice to see good friends, made me realise how long you can go without seeing people you care about just because life is busy.
