I think the less u do things u enjoy obviously the more likely you are to suffer depression...all I do is clean and watch love island (now it's over though lol) I'm numb at the minute need ideas and motivation to get into something

In the first lockdown, I was furloughed and bored stupid so I taught myself to service a mountain bike (Halfords was booked solid). I learned to make jam. I redecorated half the house, gardened, tried to get my 5k run time below 30 mins ( still not managed that one). I spring cleaned and decluttered. Lots of time cycling with ds. And home schooling Confused

This time, I'm handmaking sweets and foods as gifts for xmas, I'll decorate the other half of the house, garden pruning once we have a frost, trying to find a new job (redundancy), and still trying to get my 5k below 30 mins.

I shall be really glad when covid is over.

I agree that doing things helps.

I've started couch to 5k and I do quite a lot of sewing, knitting and crochet.

I'm planning on buying a language cd too, just not sure which Confused

In Wales we are on lockdown now. My to do list is:

Crochet
Cross stitch
Clean one kitchen cupboard a day until all decluttered.
Paint internal doors
Throw/recycle one item away everyday (there's a thread on MN for this)
Make a Christmas cake and feed it brandy.
Put stuff in attic.
Batch cook food for freezer.

I bought a half price dolls house kit with money my DDad gave me for a significant birthday.

Never built anything from scratch before. I am slowly researching the era I have chosen as well as the world of miniatures and am decorating and furnishing it very slowly. I made some curtains out of an old pillow case yesterday. YouTube has lots of "how to" videos.

I may get some modelling clay and have a go at making some fruits and veg. It is occupying my mind wonderfully.

Language lessons. I've been learning Farsi through Pimsleur and have also been going through my 'old' ones of Hebrew, Mandarin and French.

I have gone back to my childhood and started colouring and painting by numbers kits from amazon. Have completed a Marilyn Monroe one, a nice Tiger in a lot of foilage and now getting stuck into a autumn scene with a leafy lane. Im not much of a Hockney but it is keeping me happy and relatively sane Grin

So it's not too early to make the Christmas cake then?

lots of exercise as normal. Reading, diy, gardening, decluttering. Is plenty.

Getting my German language qualifications
Doing C25K (got stuck at w5r1, need to take my time and do each run multiple times!)
Decorating the house
Should probably start hacking back the garden as I can’t find a proper tree surgeon for love nor money - I can’t do the trees obviously but I can do the massively overgrown shrubs
Reviving my knitting skills to make socks as Christmas presents
Ploughing through ‘improving literature’

@footprintsintheslow - I’ve not made one for a few years and previously did it a few weeks later but most recipes that I’ve looked at have said they’re fine to make 2-3 months in advance.

Plenty of time to ‘feed’ it with brandy!

My sister lives alone and was furloughed - she took long daily walks and made videos, baked, learned languages, had film festivals at home... she seemed to quite enjoy it. Of course she is going stir crazy and desperate to get back to the office.

Have you looked into volunteering? There is quite a bit you can do remotely, or things like helping out at a local food kitchen, doing an activity but raising money for a charity, or even just unofficially popping by elderly neighbours to sweep a path or have a socially distanced chat through the window, or making time to write letters to extended family or friends who might be isolated in nursing homes? Goodgym has some great ways to mix exercise and help. If you are good with sewing or handy work already, there are 'repair cafe'' type operations on all over. With Christmas coming, there would be many families in need who would be thrilled with even a novice attempt at personalised Christmas stockings, or tree ornaments - your local baby bank or women's charity or church group may know, or local FB pages are good places to ask.

So many people are in need right now - I have to admit I despair a bit when I see how many people are doing yet another paint by numbers picture, or are bored because they've seen everything on Netflix, while so many children are going hungry and people are suffering, and there are just so many simple, practical ways to help.

I got my dog which is lovely but I'm on Mumsnet constantly and bored witless. Can't be arsed with my usual reading and feel really meh right now. No patience for anything but wine

I've done quite a bit of sewing, mostly for my steampunk outfits.
Added a workshop to my medieval/fantasy 1/24th scale dolls house.
Cleared the garden.
Made some artworks for the garden (that one definitely needs work!).
Written a daily journal (this was originally to help with my MH and has become an enjoyable habit).
Re-read lots of favourite books.
Thrown away a fair amount of junk.
Gotten very sentimental finding things while clearing said junk.
Watched too much Kitten Academy on YouTube.
Done a lot more proper cooking.
Tried to exercise more often.
Eaten far too much chocolate.
