Citalopram and diazepam

I have just left narcissist husband after 15 years and feel suicidal without him and like I’ve made a mistake. I am seeing GP and having therapy who strongly advise me not to go back even though I think it would give me the relief I need.

GP has prescribed Citalopram and also diazepam to take as and when things feel really bad. Just started today. Has anyone taken these drugs together?

My friend has suggested I just smoke a joint instead but I’m too scared to try that and if ex husband found out he would use that against me probably and say I’m an unfit mother even though I do everything and him nothing

I'm so sorry you're feeling so crap.
I have some recent experience on the drugs you mentioned.
I started citalopram, in the last couple of months. First two weeks were very
bad in terms of side effects but they settled down eventually and now I feel better than I have in a long time. I was initially very very low and horrifically anxious.
My therapist has told me that therapy and citalopram are a very good combination so I'm glad you've got both.
I've taken diazepam with citalopram and it definitely helped with the initial couple of weeks while the medication started working. Mine were a very small dose, what are yours?
I'm also on propanalol that has worked wonders for my anxiety and doesn't make me tired or spacey.

Definitely take the diazepam when you know you've got time to relax, not before going out or driving etc.

I wouldn't advise smoking if its not something you're used to! Its all well and good your mates offering you a spliff to chill out, but it can really throw some people the other way!

Have you got friends and family around you? Someone to take the children in case you feel rough on the meds?

I’m on 10mg Citolapram to start with and 5mg diazepam. I’ve only got my ex who can help with the kids which creates its own problems.

How long have you been taking it for? After the initial week or two you should feel fairly "normal" but it can vary I think.

I have been taking escitilopram
Also left and divorcing a narc ExH and with his games needed to take diazepam to counteract acute anxiety.
They helped! Do whatever you need to do to get well and free of him.
Don’t go back.

My mother and beloved nephew died.
In my arms.
I cannot grieve, which feels wrong.
They deserve my grief.
Is it better to stop taking them?

I have been taking citalopram for 8 years now it's helped my low moods but recently I have had forgetfulness I walked into the shop and forgot what I went in there for which isn't me at all I have somtimes forgot to remember to buy something that I had on my lust but never like this it lasted only a few seconds but it was very unsettling. I read on the forum that citalopram can damage the brain!!. @
