Brief history, suffered PND with my first ds 5 years ago was on the same meds for 6 months then was fine afterwards.

2ds is 5 months old, i was originally on 20mg to start off with when ds was 6 weeks old, I went back 6 weeks ago feeling no better and gp put my dose up to 40mg.

I still feel poo, i have my good days but mostly bad days. Anxiety is crap I hate it but I cant stop it.

DP is off next week so I am able to go back to GP then cos I dont want to drag DS's with me and have no one else to look after them

Just feeling a bit like a lost cause, can they up the dose again or do something else?

Poor you. I remember back 2 years when I first finally admitted to my Mum and HV that I wasn't coping and felt crap, anxious and generally claustaphobic all the time. DD1 was 5 months old at the time and I went onto 20mg of Citalopram for 9 months or so. Nearly came off after 6 months but had a few OMG, can't do this sort of days and Doc said not to panic about coming off too soon. No idea about upping your dose, but I'm sure your Doc (and HV - don't forget her - often far more clued in than the Doc as to other ways of helping you) will be able to talk you through whatever options there are. Ii do know some folks stay on 'happy pills' (as I called them anyway) for years without it being a big thing. Citalopram is one of the better ones I seem to remember for long term when needed.

please don't worry or get het up about things. Even your post mentioning no one to leave your Ds's with sort of point to eactly the feelings I had. Is there anyone who come maybe go to the doc's with you and your DS's - and simply sit with them in the waiting room while you see the doc?

Plese let me know how you get on. I'm currently 22wks with D? No. 2 and have been having odd days where I can't help thinking I'll suffer PND again - not easy as we've moved since last time and so don't really know anyone up here yet so sort of in the same boat support wise. Just crossing my fingers really but will be as honest with myself and HV/MW etc if things do feel like they are getting away from me

Hugs and happy thoughts

thankyou beanster.

I am in the same position, well i was, 10 weeks pg with ds 2 when we moved 200 miles away. Although Ive made some lovely friends now. I feel settled and its a much better place to bring up the boys

I keep putting it down to a few "low" days but if Im totally honest the meds arent working on their own

Be patient, they will work and you will feel great. I started on 10mg, then after 3 week even though i felt a lot better, gp increased to 20mg. To be honest never looked back. I did feel a lot worse at the beginning. Good luck.
