Climipramine AD no longer available ... alternatives ?

It’s an old AD so not sure if anyone else here will be having same problem. I’m on 25mg of tricyclic clomipramine but pharmacist can’t held hold of any and manufacturer can’t give date when problem will be resolved.

I’ve got some left but pharmacist says may need to change. I am v well on this dose but when I have withdrawn in the past (and previously seroxat) I have been v v ill.

DH has life limiting illness so I need to keep things on an even keel.

My dr is happy for me to suggest things - so would appreciate any thoughts on another tricyclic immipramine (?). I was advised to stay away from ssris after my seroxat withdrawal problems but may have to revisit them.

It’s so annoying about the manufacturing issue because I just need to keep everything outside of my lovely DH ok and I’ve been fine on the low dose of clomipramine. Aaaaaghh

Imipramine or Amitriptyline? Aren't they the closest to it?

What dosage are you on? Various updates suggest the 10mg capsules are still available, and can be used to make up a higher dose. Your GP would need to issue a new prescription for this though, as it would need to be an amount divisible by 10.

I take Dosulepin, it's another old antidepressant, works very well for me.

I’m on 25mg.

I’ve tried a few different chemists and they have all been v helpful but all saying 10 and 25 mg not available to order on the system at the moment (and all their stocks ‘in store’ have gone.)

I’ll have a look at Imipramine and Amitriptyline - thanks.

For some reason my gp doesn’t prescribe dosulepin to new patients (although has people on it who were previously prescribed it.) I think it’s because there were some concerns about heart side effects. (If someone already on it and not had any probs then ok to stay on it.) I know my friends Mum has been in it for a number of years and found it v helpful which is why I asked about it.

I probably should have added that symptoms when ill are mix of depression and anxiety but anxiety is probably the more significant.
