Work and MH issues

I'm interested to read if anyone has requested adjustments to their work as a result of MH problems. I'm struggling with anxiety and depression currently and work is getting harder. I have brain fog, it's hard to get out of bed in the morning as I wake up in the night am drained. I sometimes feel overwhelmed in the office first thing - it feels like a huge long day stretching before me. The other day I worked from home for a day and I felt so much calmer.

I'm considering asking my manager if I can have a work from home day once a week - he and a few others do this. The work can easily be done from home, and there's an argument that it's easier to concentrate with less noise (lots of data analysis etc). Thing is, because I've had a few days of having to go home early or come in later due to counselling/Drs appointments, and because I've not been as productive due to the brain fog, I feel like a cf to ask. Has anyone asked for support from their work, and how did it go?

I did reduced hours for several months when anxiety was very bad. Also requested day at home & was approved no probs but actually I found I just cried all day and that being around colleagues was better for me mentally. I left early and had regular mornings off for therapy for about 6 more months. I made up the time rather than taking as sick leave, having had 30 days sick leave in that same holiday year which was the limit I could get paid for. Work were extremely supportive and I found telling a few close colleagues helpful. Good luck! X
