ROCD

Just wondering if anyone has heard of ROCD? (Relationship obsessive compulsive disorder) I've just randomly come across a article and after delving a bit deeper it seems to describe what I'm feeling down to a tee :/ was just wondering if anyone else has heard of it?

Thanks for link, interesting reading. Do you have a diagnosis of ocd? Do you think you can find a way to manage the intrusive thoughts?

No diagnosis. But I have got anxiety which I'm on medication for. And I've no idea how to deal with the intrusive thoughts :/ was kind of hoping someone else had heard of it

There are lots of ways of dealing with intrusive thoughts, especially CBT techniques, MIND has some
info on it (can’t link as phone crap). I don’t have OCD but do have intrusive thoughts. One of my coping mechanisms for them
is to visualise myself with a baseball bat and I literally whack the thought away from
me.

This is interesting. I have intrusive thoughts too. I imagine putting them into a locked box in my mind and every now and then I set fire to the box Blush

Yes i have ocd. Have a look on ocd action website or ocd uk. Its fairly common in terms of types of ocd.

Ooh good suggestions! When my mind starts going haywire I literally have to say "shut up" out loud to try to stop them

@lardass88 I sometimes tell mine to fuck off but try to do it inside my head. I like CheersButterfly’s idea of setting fire to a locked box full of intrusive thoughts. Maybe by exchanging tactics and ideas we will all get stronger at defeating them.

Alone. Usually when I'm driving or in bed when the little voice pipes up and starts giving me grief. This is all new to me if I'm honest. I just thought I was messed up and had no clue how to deal with it

You don’t sound messed up and you are trying to deal with it, you’ve found relevant info and come here for support and to share. I think you are being proactive and showing courage.

@4dogs thank you. I think I've had anxiety and intrusive thoughts for most of my life but I never went to the doctors about it until last year. But it's affecting every aspect of my life especially relationships as I'm convinced I'm doomed and not cut out for a relationship as I seem to be unable to trust and I'm just waiting for the inevitable to happen where it all goes wrong. It's actually exhausting

It sounds like anxiety and insecurity. Which is very, very common.
