Talk to me about setraline

My Dr has suggested this to me after my exams in a few weeks. For extreme anxiety.

I was on citalopram/escitalopram on and off for ten years. DP said they made me like a zombie. I'm just not sure.

Also terrified of putting on weight.

I am on sertraline (for depression not anxiety though) and they haven't turned me into a zombie. I don't feel spaced out, and feel much more like myself than how I was when depressed. One of my fears was that it would level out my personality and turn me into a zombie, but it hasn't.

Also no weight gain here- I remember mentioning fears of weight gain about another medication in the past, and the doctor said something along the lines of 'a pill doesn't contain calories so won't make you gain weight, however it might increase your appetite which if you eat more will make you gain weight'. So just be mindful of any appetite changes and manage these appropriately- in my experience though it hasn't changed my appetite at all

Medication affects everyone so differently, but I Hope this has helped a bit Smile

Thanks - she wanted me to have mirtazipine but that most definitely puts weight on. It is often used to stimulate appetite in poorly cats so I wasn't going there. I think my relationship with dp is beyond repair which isn't helping at present. Feel fit to drop tbh
