She needs to speak with her mental health worker, they can explain in full about a section 3. Will she be seeing her occupational health nurse before she goes back to work, I hope she feels better soon.

She needs to speak with someone whom is 100% sure, how frustrating for her. She will have a social worker or advocate she can speak with,

I don't think what the sister is saying is correct. There are people working in the health professions who have been on sections and it would be discriminatory if someone was fit to practice but had been on a section in the past. Travel-apparently if you're off the section it should be fine and she could always get letter from psychiatrist to confirm she's ok to travel.

She's better off being voluntary though, and cooperating with mental health services rather than trying to leave.

Many mental health trusts have employment specialists who help people with job issues/find jobs etc. They are often the best sources of info with regards working.
