Genuinely think I’m done now

I’ve suffered MH issues for years. Been on antidepressants in the past even went A&E last time I was like this but they shouted at me and said my issues are social problems and to go home after an assessment. So I’m not going back there.

I know it’s clearly a long story cut short but I’m exhausted I just want to end it tbh

Have you got a crisis team? They’d be a good port of call. Flowers

I went to a&e in September. Waited 4 hours for an assessment. The 2 people doing the assessment were really short with me asking the questions. They made what I said fit their idea I was fine. Said my problems were social and there wasn’t anything they could do. Got sent home. I was still feeling suicidal rang an ambulance. The same crisis team woman came to see me said ‘what do you want us to do you’ve already had an assessment’ and I was sent out at 2am in the night

OP I'm not surprised. I had a family member who was in the same boat and got sent away. They died because of an accident where they were not able to look after themselves properly. I said to the MH team at the time that if they sent them away they would end up dead and they did.

I'm sorry you are feeling like this. The people who spoke to you like that shouldn't have. Whether it's because the NHS is stretched or because they didn't understand your problems, they let you down.

Please please don't give up. You can't see it because you're blinded by your feelings but with proper help this can get better. Getting help can be hard and can feel impossible and it really shouldn't be so hard for people with MH problems.

I don't think that if you really wanted to end it all, that you would have posted about it online. I think that you want your difficulties to end but can see no escape apart from the obvious one.

Please phone the samaritans and keep talking to us. Would you like to talk about what it is that is making things so unbearable?

I’m sorry you didn’t get the help you needed, when you needed it. Could you go to a different hospital today?

I think MN will delete your thread soon, but please don’t take it personally, they’re worried someone will make your situation worse, not better. You can start a thread about something else if you just want to chat. They will also give you contact details for places that can & do help.

My friend had to try several different A&E/walk in type places before she found one that really helped. She’s had various medications & therapy and is mostly pretty good now, but if things get bad and she feels out of control, she goes to the one that helped. Sometimes just being there is enough and sometimes she sees someone.

I hope you can find somewhere that’s good for you. They are out there.

From my experience I think in a&e or being brought in by ambulance they only look at the very serious surface crisis now type problems because they don't have the time or resources to look at anything else in that moment. They quickly assess will this person "be safe" for the next few hours (not will this person be in pain or be ill) if they think you will then they just don't have time they should though and it's shit they don't

That is shit and not to say your suffering is less important or infact less an any way! but I think you got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your pain is real and I'm sorry you feel no one can see it.

I'm really very sorry your struggling Fantaa, don't rule out the crisis team. They might not help you to feel much better but their input can keep you alive and just about coping until you can access other help.

As for the social problems obviously I don't know what they are and I'm not asking but have you thought that in the long term bigger picture type way they might have a point? Once your on more stable ground it might be an idea to look at that and see if you can get support to change some of it obviously that's long term stuff not necessarily right now stuff.

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way. Flowers

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

We are going to move this thread to the Mental Health section shortly.

OP honestly the MH services in this country are so hit and miss it's devastating and grossly unfair . It's not you, it's them. I've been treated the same as have others. Don't take it personally which it's easy to do. I thought they hated me and if I'm honest they made me worse! In my opinion they do it to fit their agenda as you mentioned and to keep admissions down. It isn't working.
What part of the country are you in? There is support out there other than the NHS and I can signpost you to some services if you'd like. Lots of us on MN have been through similar or are going through hard times so keep posting and chatting, I find a lot of comfort here in darker times. Stay safe and remember that you're stronger than you think you are. There is always a brighter day ahead and this will pass. X

Can you speak to a local church and explain you feel really low and need help? They will be able to comfort and support you in many ways as I always find Christians genuinely care about your wellbeing xxx

Please contact the samaritans, you need to talk to someone who will listen and help you understand your feelings. You also need to see your GP urgently as they may prescribe meds or refer you to MH services.
