Mental health

Need ideas to help tonight

I tried to get hold of my care coordinator today with no luck and know that things are getting worse, I feel a sense of dread and unease and can't stop pacing up and down. I have fairly well-controlled schizophrenia but when I get ill it spirals out of control rapidly, within days usually. My friend has sent me some meditation links but I just got irritable, same with TV and music. It always seems worse in the night, doesn't it? and I'm dreading the night. Any ideas?

Run it off? is there any exercise you like to take your mind off and burn off this excess energy

A walk's about as much as I can manage but it's a good idea, whilst it's light. Thanks

This might not be the most sophisticated suggestion ever, but do you have any sleeping tablets, just to get you through tonight till you can speak to support people in the morning?

Went out for a bit but had the sensation of someone following me. Feel very nervous. Checked all the doors and windows umpteen times. Wish I did have some sleeping tablets, not that they keep me asleep for long. Sometimes a lorazepam or sth helps but I don't have anything. Feel scared and lonely.

Can't ring the crisis line, as last time I rang they said "this isnt' a line for talking to people you know" WTAF? It's useless.

Can you try grounding? Dot know if it helps you but good for me when I'm anxious and panicking. List 5 things you can see in the room, 4 things you can touch, 3 you can smell. Concentrating on these often helps me stop spiralling

At least your recognising your health deteriorating and asking for suggestions - that is positive. Remember thoughts are symptoms and NOT reality, it sounds like your still at a point where you can hang onto this. Talk to the Samaritans if you need to just rationalise it through or talk to someone, you have a 100% success rate in getting through the nights as your still here....100%. They are great odds. You can do it x

Hi love. Could you maybe try the crisis line again? You will likely get someone different and hopefully they will be kinder and more able to help. Is there anyone who could come and be with you? Sending lots of positive thoughts.

Thank you so much for your positive words SIB09 yes I still have a grip on reality, although I know that sometimes people take over my thoughts for me, and that's when things get worse. I've never really been able to stop this happening. Do you think the Samaritans would help? I've not tried them for many years.

Sadly I don't have any friends or relatives nearby and live on my own.

Ok that's fine, we're here. Have you eaten? Just thinking maybe you could do a very easy thing to eat like beans on toast.

Have you tried calling The Samaritans for a chat? ❤

Yeah sometimes saying outloud just helps perspective. Theres also 'elefriends' on the mind website if you want to online chat through the night, great peer support. Keep safe x

I dont know if this is the crisis line or not but when you dial 111 there is an option for the mental health team could you try phoning them and then see if they can point you in the right direction. If you feel really bad ring 999 and they can take you to a&e where the on duty mental health team can help.

Oh god I just was on the phone and it was beginning to calm me down and I got cut off and now I feel like it's all going to get worse, someone is trying to make me feel bad and has cut the phone off. I knew there was someone out there.

steadyonenow I hate it when that happens. I find it quite frightening. How are you doing this morning?

Report
Crowdo · 18/08/2017 05:07

Oh gosh, OP. It sounds so frightening for you.

There's no one out there though. You're OK. I've got cut off before lots of times. It can happen when you call an office. If you need to, call them back.

And I understand about trying to get through the night. I'm trying to get through tonight too.

Thanks again for good thoughts. I ended up going to A&E to get some diazepam , out of hours couldn't help. Luckilly I was only there an hour. Didn;'t get any sleep. Have managed to get an apt with CC this afternoon so (fingers crossed) ....

Glad you had only a short visit to A&E. What's CC? Crisis people?

I fell asleep about six am and slept until the afternoon. Not ideal for getting to sleep tonight.

Care-coordinator.
I get to the point when any sleep is better than none, regardless of the time of day. Got some sleeping tablets and more diazepam. Hope tonight is calmer. And for you Crowdo
