Anyone feel sad after watching the news?

So I have avoided watching the news lately as I cannot bear to see images of children in war zones, or attacks, or anything else of the sort. Is there anyone else who feels depressed after the news? Is this normal? (BTW I'm a mother of 3). I feel so helpless...I just want to help the world and I feel so selfish for living my life when so many are suffering. :(

I stopped watching about 4/5 months ago after an awful story that really affected me.

I feel so much better for it. I read the papers online where I can choose what to read and what to skip

Yep, I avoid watching when I'm struggling.

Positivenews.org.uk
I recommend this site.

I can't handle mainstream/groupthink anything at the moment.

Call me a drop out. That's fine. I can't do it anymore. It's all too much.

So my solution is to give back to my local community.
Check-in with positive news.
Vedic meditation.

I scan the headlines every morning just to make sure nothing too crazy is happening and then quickly close the page. I don't get sucked in.

i found it heart breaking Sad I just want to go and get them, feed and tell them everything will be fine.

thing is I have 3 dc and haven't adapted to motherhood. its not for me, but these poor children got me right in the heart.

my dd was watching and I made a point at moaning about not being allowed another bag of crisp and that some kids don't have nothing.
