It's such a horrible feeling, the urge to commit suicide. Someone once said to me not to make permanent plans based on temporary feelings, This will pass. But yes, as others have said, go to A&E, they can get you secondary care support. Hugs.

I work in a GP surgery doing administration and answering the phone. If you rang and told me this I would let one of the GPs know straight away. I think if you can ring back and let them know how bad you feel then do. It can be pressured at a GP surgery for those trying to answer the phone but you deserve to be seen today.

A&E: get yourself there immediately. Hold on tight with everything you've got Flowers

Go to A&E, they can help you! ❤️

If you feel able to, A&E. If not call the GP surgery and let them know, they won't turn you away. If things don't improve please ring 999, they will come to you. Keep talking on here.

Whatever is going on is not worth hurting yourself over, there is no light at the end of the tunnel at the minute but it will come back. I promise, I've been here.

Just get there and tell them how you feel Flowers
They will help. Can you ring a taxi?

Report
SherlockPotter · 11/05/2017 11:07

Tell them the truth. If you can't tell them, write it down (that's what I've done) and give them the note.

Tell them you're in crisis and need an urgent mental health assessment.
Good luck x

A and E. although when I had a nervous breakdown a decade or so ago I just turned up at GPs as hubby had no idea what to do with me and they saw me pretty fast.

Oh my love, you must be feeling really badly. I think a taxi or a friend to give you lift to A&E would be in order here as the GP can't help. Are you close to one?

HulkMama · 11/05/2017 11:44

What tw1984 said. Tell them you are in crisis, you feel you are in immediate danger and you need contact with the community mental health team. I would persuade the gp route first if you can. A and e can feel very overwhelming if you are there for mental health reasons.
Just remember: everything changes. What seems insurmountable now will pass. Xx

Write it down and hand it to reception at A&E

I have a teen who is under the care of camhs, their advice to all parents is if they believe a person is likely to follow through on suicidal thoughts they should be taken to A&E

A few years ago a relative was about to attempt suicide, I took them straight to a gp

Please do one or the other, either walk in at your practice and explain your situation, they WILL put you in to a doctor or attend A&E who will get you seen by a duty psychiatrist

People here will hold your hand, please do something, talk to someone, let them help you

Behave as you would if you were having a heart attack. Your life is in danger. Call an ambulance... MH is the same as physical health. The sooner that sinks in across the board the better.
Well done for recognising you need help. Please please get it. Please remember that whatever you are facing won't last forever. You will overcome this. Suicide is a PERMANENT solution to a temporary problem Flowers

I agree with previous posters: go to A&E, write it down if you need to, or try telling the GP receptionist you're feeling suicidal and see what they suggest.
