If I self harm, will it result in SS involvement?

If kids are in bed, DH at home. If I don't leave anything sharp, clean up. I have a CPN, that I see regularly (today) and keep in touch with. Take all my medications. My 5yo in reception reads at junior level, does loads of extracurricular activities. DH has a top professional job, we own our own (4 bed detached if it makes a difference although I agree it shouldn't), etc etc.

I'm sorry if this is ridiculous. Please don't be too horrible or mean, I'm not mentally very well. Im diagnosed bipolar type I but have had a relapse.

As you've said it doesn't matter what home you live in, what jobs you have ...

There is the potential for referral to go into SS yes if you self harm.

I have put these referrals in myself , because as you know self harm is a risky business.

There is always potential for emotional harm to come to the children ...

Children of mothers who self harm often have psychological difficulties of their own as adults.

Please ask your CPN about Distress Tolerance.

Right here right now try and either identify things over the next hour that will either distract you or soothe you .

Research shows that if you are able to "surf the wave " for an hour then the urge to self harm should dissipate after an hour.

If you are having a relapse please also ring your CPN tomorrow ... do you have any PRN medication you can take to alleviate your agitation in the meantime ?

If I did- not saying I am going to now.

I'm terrified. Not just self harm. What if I am thought of as damaging to the children? What if I am damaging?

Saw my CPN today. She said she would definitely sort out PRN straight away but not heard anything.

Have you tried ice diving? (Face in a bowl of icy water). My dd found this helpful sometimes. Does DH know how you're feeling?

What do you think you might be doing that could be damaging to the children OP?
