She has had mental and physical health problems, off an on for the past 5 years and possibly before that. In the past my help has been more on the practical side, babysitting while she attends councelling. Occasionally lending an ear, however this has more to do with practical things and relationships with other family members on her side.

She has now been signed off from work and I would like to help in any way I can. However I don't know how to raise the issue with her. If you have suffered from stress/ depression, what sort of things would you have wanted from an older relative.

What a lovely relative you are!

Tricky because it's probably different for everyone. Can you just ask her?

I have a lovely friend who comes round sometimes, won't take no for an answer when I try to cancel and will come help clean my house, take DD out for a while or whatever.

I'm sure someone will be along with some more helpful advice but couldn't read and run.

How wonderful Flowers! I would let her know you are there with any support needed. If you find it may be difficult to come straight out with it try a note or text. I think just knowing that you are there will mean the world . For me just having someone to call makes so much difference.

I need a lot of sensitivity, I think. I have sent a text, just a couple of lines.
Thank you for answering.
