Peri menopause and anxiety

Hi mums. I've been put on fluoxetine for peri-menopausal PMT symptoms and propranolol for anxiety. I've been on them a couple of months and my husband has said I'm less anxious and I feel a bit happier but don't feel a huge difference. My problem is I'm really struggling at work with the anxiety. I just don't want to be there. I can cope with the job, no problems with what I have to do, workload etc just get really anxious when I'm there. I've been debating whether to go on the sick for a couple of weeks to try and get my head sorted and to see if the medication starts to work any better. Plus I'm having side effects of an upset tummy so am running to the loo a lot. The only thing is I'm the only admin for the team and I know I would feel guilty if I was off as there wouldn't be anyone to do my work but I really don't think I can cope with it any more. So do I have some time off or do I just get on with it? Thank you xx

Hi Mic22,
I've been suffering with anxiety and panic attacks for over eighteen months, had fluxotine too but stopped it as it made me exhausted. I found work really difficult, in fact I'm now a student again as I had to rethink my life. If you really feel you are struggling I would suggest having a break, time off sick does make you feel guilty but sometimes you just need the time to give yourself a breather. Keep getting help from the doctor and as much as you can from family, it's really horrible feeling so anxious, it's,starting to get a,bit better for me now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel 😀
