Hello all. I hope you can help.
I changed medication from sertraline to Prozac and I've really taken a bad dip.. Feeling I can't cope etc. I've been to gp and switched back to sertraline as they do work for me but I have sickness side affect.
Having terrible moods swings and anxiety (also pmt related I think)
I'm a single parent, recently had a relationship breakdown and although on the outside I may look ok, I'm really struggling with feeling alone, no one understands etc
I find it difficult to open up.
Any advice?

Sorry you are struggling Apple.

I take Sertraline, and found taking it with food helped the nausea.

Also you say your anxiety/depression might be linked to your PMT? Have a read of Prof John Studd's website. He's a world authority on hormonal depression/anxiety and treats women with severe PMS, PND and those suffering with the Menopause.

have you talked to anyone in real life about how you feel? they may well be completely unaware how bad things are for you

No actual advice. Sorry. But I know how tough it can be and just want to send a big bunch of flowers and box of chocolates (can't work out how do do the MN smileys). Be really gentle with yourself. Remember that depression is a proper illness and if anyone tells you to get your act together and get on with it, ask whether they'd say that if you had broken your leg or had cancer.

There is a great book: Depressive Illness: the curse of the strong by Tim Cantopher. I found it really encouraging.

Oh - and make the most of any support you can get. I just wish the amazing Mumsnetters were around in the early 1990s when I was isolated in an abusive marriage with small children and tried to commit suicide, xxxx

Thanks for your replies. I feel much better now.. It is definitely pmt related. No one in real life knows or perhaps they suspect but don't say anything. I think the sertraline will help as they have before so hopefully it will get more manageable. Psion- thanks I'll have a look at that website..
I have suffered on and off for years so I am used to it..
