Awaiting call from psychiatrist, possible bipolar :/

Yesterday I went to my dr for a review of my medication.

Over the past 7 months I have been going between almost euphoria - feeling like I could run the world, being brilliant at work, and my sex drive goes through the roof, I don't act on the impulse but it is there. I get racing thoughts but not like when I'm depressed. It's like I can concentrate on 10 things at once.

I have also spiralled and start getting angry at little things, then my anxiety goes through the roof, then the feelings of being worthless, I self harm, and feel suicidal. I stop washing I stop caring.

I've just got out of a 3 week hole of depression. I've crawled out of the pit.

It was my dr who asked me if I ever feel manic, I said no, then he asked me to fill out a bipolar questionnaire. I scored very highly on this I didn't recognise some of what I experience as manic. Obviously this isn't a definite. But I've looked at the mind website and I can identify with a lot of behaviours that are present in bipolar 2.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this, I suppose I'm getting all the thoughts down.

What is the process for diagnosis? He's asked for an urgent referral to the psychiatrist. At my drs surgery my dr is the mental health specialist, he said that I'd probably benefit from a mood stabiliser but couldn't prescribe as it needs to come from a psychiatrist.

I'm not worried, in fact if I can become level and not have all these depressive episodes it'll be a relief.

Thanks for reading my essay flowers hopefully it makes sense.
