I drank almost a full bottle of lactulos due to the fact I've gained weight :(

Hello. Thanks for reading.

Yes. I'm serious. No I'm not joking. Yes I understand this was a bad idea. But I am very logical person but I had a moment were I weighed myself. Realised I'd gained 4 lbs. And I started boiling over. I grabbed the bottle poured it into a cup and downed it. This was 2 hours ago. I've had lactulos before but usually the correct amount and didn't start working till next day. In this case I've been sat on the toilet for 30 minutes going like water.

I was just so angry. I have weigh in at my gp tommorow and I've put on 4lbs!!! I'm so upset. And no. I'm not shallow. It's not even about how I look. This is just not going well. I don't abuse laxatives usually. Only done it once before recently maybe three weeks ago. But didn't drink this much. When I was younger I had extreme issues with making myself sick. But don't do that now. I have no idea why I did this with lactulos. Or how I lost that much control to drink that much. Now my tummy is killing me. You wouldn't believe I'm a mother. ( no my kids didn't see me do this they are with there dad) but I'm not a teenager anymore. So I shouldn't even Consider doing this. But I didn't even think.. What is going on.

Can I ask what the weigh in with your gp is about?

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:04:51

Obvcourse you can. smile I'm trying to lose weight. I know I personally have a tendency to get carried away. So I just started seeing the nurse who will weigh me weekly. She was abit suspicious when I went last week after seeing the weight I was when I last came for my depo shot. In a couple weeks I'd lost two stones. None the less she said weldone. She also checked with the Dr if I can have alistat which they gave me.. On the condition I do come for the weigh ins.

MatildaTheCat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:05:13

Tell your GP. Seriously. Hope you are ok.

sonlypuppyfat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:05:17

Do you want to tell us why you're putting yourself through this

MatildaTheCat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:06:24

Cross posted. Two stone in two weeks? How?

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:06:38

Even though. This puts even more pressure on me. As now I'm feeling so embarrassed. To go tommorow. But the way im going to the toilet. I'm pretty sure 4lbs will come out the other end by tommorow. But I'm canceling the appointment tomorrow. As I'm just to embarrassed

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:07:43

Matilida. Im really sorry I cannot say how on a public forum. I'm not hear to trigger anyone else. Or promote any unhealthy way of doing things for someone else to follow. As I wouldn't want anyone making themselves. Unwell. X

BIWI Sun 12-Jun-16 18:08:06

You lost two stones in two weeks? What the bloody hell have you been doing?

That is, if this is true ...

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:08:39

sonlypuppyfat- putting myself through the laxative bit or?. Which bit. X

sonlypuppyfat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:09:03

You poor thing don't cancel your appointment you need to talk to someone

sonlypuppyfat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:09:59

Putting yourself through worrying about your weight

specialsubject Sun 12-Jun-16 18:10:53

please don't be angry with yourself for being ill. It isn't your fault, any more than a physical illness would be.

but please, please go to the appointment and accept help. For your sake and that of your kids.

I wish you the very best.

GrumpyMcGrumpFace Sun 12-Jun-16 18:11:00

<hugs> I did this for a long time - I would take more laxatives any time I ate more than I was "allowed". You know yourself it's not healthy, and it played merry hell with my digestive system, which never fully recovered.

My advice would be to be stern with yourself now - I wish I had been. Go to your GP, get help. Because if you are at all like me, you will be angry now, then you'll worry about the weight gain again, and do it again. It can go on for years, until you get help to get it under control. Although it feels like will power, it is an illness, and it's not possible to just "cure yourself".

Excuse me if I speak out of turn.

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:11:05

Biwi. Please. This isn't a joke. This is 100 percent true. I have no reason to make up or tell anyone that I'm sat on the toilet as I type this. Ugh. Honestly I'm not looking for attention. Not looking for sympathy I just wanted to talk it through. Trust me I suffered. It was almost three weeks. Two weeks plus a few days. But how is not what this is about. But it wasn't healthy. I'm not here to spread unhealthy habits. But please if you don't think this is real or true. Just don't comment honestly.

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:13:17

Special subject_ thank you for your kind words. When I was about 13 this all started. It got so bad I was in hospital after a laxative overdose that caused some disgusting symptoms. And with making myself sick etc. But I'm classed as recovered. So I don't know how it sneaked up on me. Because all I was doing was trying to make myself healthier. And then something went wrong. It seems.

MatildaTheCat Sun 12-Jun-16 18:14:35

American site so different number but you have OD'd and should call 111 for advice.

Lactulose Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose include the following:

Thirst
Increased urination
Irregular heart beat
Muscle weakness
If you suspect an overdose, you should contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. You can get in touch with a poison control center at (800) 222-1222.

BIWI Sun 12-Jun-16 18:15:04

So how have you managed to lose two stones in two weeks? And how come the nurse didn't ask you about that?

Roomba Sun 12-Jun-16 18:15:42

Well I don't imagine the amount of sugar in Lactulose is conducive to losing weight.

You need to tell your GP about this, you need urgent help. You will make yourself very ill if you don't accept that you need help, for your kids' sakes if nothing else.

I hope your stomach settles down soon. If you start to feel very unwell you need to ring 111 to ask their advice. Laxative abuse is so dangerous.

BluebellTheDonkey Sun 12-Jun-16 18:15:42

I Think you sound desperately unhappy with yourselfsadand have got yourself trapped in a cycle of using desparate measures to lose weight. Any professional nurse would be questioning a 2 stone weight loss in such a short space of time, you know deep down that you are not doing things the healthy sensible way.
I can guarantee that any self image issues you have will not magically disappear with weight loss. You will still look in the mirror and be unhappy.
Honestly I say this as a yoyo dieter, who has finally at the age of 41 decided to accept myself the way I am, be kind to yourself, break out of this cycle and find a better way.
Good luckflowers

RJnomore1 Sun 12-Jun-16 18:15:52

Ok losing weight that fast isn't sustainable sweetheart so at some point that scale was going up.
You've done nothing wrong. You are obviously motivated and that's great but I think you need to tell the nurse or the go about your history of making yourself sick and what has happened today and a few weeks ago.

I believe you. I don't think it's funny and I don't think you are awful. I think you need to take good care of yourself and think long term.

I'm off to google lactulose overdose in case you need to call someone now.

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:15:57

Sony to be honest with you. I don't know if this is about my weight or about numbers. Or about how I feel about myself. I'm just so sick of myself sometimes. I'm not depressed. Etc. But I do make my skin crawl so much I'd run away from myself if I could. I know it's hardly funny. But I'm literaly still sat on the toilet on my night off from the kids. What a life. But I can't explain why I have done this. And neither can I honestly say I regret it. Even though my tummy is killing me. Thats what's scary. I know I should not have done this. So why do I not regret it?

specialsubject Sun 12-Jun-16 18:16:52

Please, please be kind to yourself and get help. You are important - and you are ill. As others say - not your fault. This thing can come back, and also as someone said, it is not a matter of 'snap out of it'. If only - but illness doesn't work like that.

I wonder if there is a helpline you could chat to tonight? Hopefully someone will be along with some idea.

BishopBrennansArse Sun 12-Jun-16 18:18:22

I'm sure you know this already but laxative misuse as well as the vomiting is bulimia.
Please keep your appointment tomorrow and ask for some support with how you're feeling.
Take care.

Goodheartflyinghigh Sun 12-Jun-16 18:18:43

Rj no more. I've been going to the same doctors. Since all this started the person who prescribed alisstat. The diet pill they gave me. Is the exact same person thst gave me the talk when I was 15 when my friend brought me in worried because she over heard me making myself sick. They all know my history etc. So it's nothing I have hidden. But I am worried to mention it again. As that person sees me some times and says how far I've come etc now she's seen my kids and stuff. So I don't want to disappoint anyone.
