Long term sleep help

I take antidepressants and mood stabilisers for BPD but really struggle to sleep still. This really affects my mood, weight and obviously energy levels.
I'm averaging 2-3 hours a night at most.
I'm back to see my GP next week and was wondering if it is at all likely that they would prescribe something to help me sleep long term rather than a few days worth of zopiclone.
Does anyone have any experience of this at all?

I was prescribed amytryptaline (sp?) for insomnia. It did seem to help.

I'm on mirtazapine at night which helps a lot. I don't have bipolar but was only getting an hour's actual sleep a night before

Borderline or bipolar? I am on quetiapine as a mood stabiliser and find that 300mg at night knocks me out.

I'm on a low dose of amitriptyline for sleep.

Borderline, I can't handle mirtazapine - the weight gain was dreadful for me.
I've started having episodes of psychosis now though so I am going to be seeing a psychiatrist specifically to sort my meds soon. Hoping that it will help-very fed up of being me at the moment.
