Bipolar and pregnancy....any experiences?

Hi all,

I have bipolar disorder type II and looking to TTC this year.

I'm seeing a private psych soon with an interest in perinatal care to talk about meds.

I just wondered how other people with bipolar found pregnancy and the sleep deprived first few months?

What did you do with your meds...did you come off them? How was that?

How did pregnancy hormones impact your bipolar?

Did the sleep deprivation impact your bipolar?

Any tips or advice?

Thanks X

I have ipolar I and had two pregnancies. I was pretty much fine through both, my perinatal psychiatrist told me that pregnancy hormones are quite stabilising in pregnancy.

Not bipolar but psychotic depression. My pregnancies were great it was after them I became unwell. I had a good perinatal psychiatrist though and managed to find d meds to help and breastfed all mine. Good luck with it all.
