Is it worth me buying some even though I'm exhausted from not sleeping well for years due to struggling financially. My dh is self employed and business is not great.

Try magnesium supplement instead.

It can help some people. Just be aware it does interfere with some prescription medicine (I.e. Decreases effectiveness of contraceptive pill)

Is the magnesium for sleep or depression?

Also, with SJW, is there a standard dose you should be taking like there is in Germany? Like if I was going to start taking SJW, which one should I buy?

Is it pronounced Saint John's Wort or Sinjens Wort?

I think you should go and see a GP before self-medicating.

Yes, if you were in Germany, you might be given St John's Wort by your doctor (as it's mainstream there) but British doctors don't seem to use it. So self-medication is probably the only route if you have a specific reason to want that specific thing.

But I'd wanted to be checked, for things like thyroid function or possible anaemia, before choosing a medicine.

And yes, you need to check your contraception (if using any) if you take St John's Wort as it interferes with the pill.
