I have suffered with generalised anxiety for 4 years now. A few weeks ago my mirena coil fell out which has made me and my other half discuss about trying for a baby. I already have a little boy that will be 3 in October. I am currently taking 75mg of imipramine and have been doing since I had my son (was taking 25mg towards the end of pregnancy as I couldnt cope with my anxiety) about 4months ago I tried decreasing my meds to 50mg but I relapsed badly so I'm terrified of trying to come off them again. I was advised by a doctor that it would "be best" to be on no medication while pregnant. I'm really curious to know if anyone has has any similar experiences or could give me any advice. I would be very greatful.....thanks in advance x x

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and have been on 150mg imipramine alongside antipsychotics since around 8 weeks. I am under a specialist perinatal mental health team who have advised that the drug has been used safely for many years in pregnancy. I didn't have much of a choice as I got ill very fast when I stopped taking my meds on discovering I was pregnant. Try and get referred to a specialist team they are very experienced at looking after pregnant women that need meds and can give you the best advice.
