different types of talking therapy?

Hi All, I saw a counsellor today and she only does CBT. I didn't realise before going but tbh I just don't find it that helpful. I think my issues are too deep rooted for that to be of any major help. I mean I'm sure it'd help a little but I feel like I need more. What other types of talking therapy are there? I'm not sure what model my previous counsellor used, but we spoke a lot more in depth about things, particularly things in the past instead of just the here and now. What would I need to look out for when trying to find a new counsellor?

Have you considered psychotherapy? Good luck.

I see an integrative psychotherapist and she is brilliant. Have a look on the counselling directory for people in your area as it lists their qualifications and areas of experience.

Thanks both. I've found someone who looks pretty good. She has a special interest in trauma and has recent training in understanding sexual abuse which is ultimately where my issues stem from. She uses an integrative approach with psychodynamic being part of it. I've sent her an email so hopefully it won't take too long to here back.
