Having the Christmas gap from therapy - anyone else?

I remember this from last year, so though I would recreate it.

I see a private therapist twice a week and will be having an 11 day break from her. Anyone else having a break and feeling a bit anxious about it?

It's helpful to know im not the only or. Mine spends ages with me before due to an abundance of self destructive behaviour dying gaps previously and we draw out a calendar and add what I will e doing each day so I can cross them out between our visits. Could you do something like that?

It's tough.

That's a good idea. I know it's defeatist but I don't think I could. I can have an amazing day like yesterday where I make progress and a day like today where I mess everything up at an astounding level. Do you manage to get your goals ticked off?

I am happy to have a break. I find therapy uncomfortable and little break is good. I have NHS short therapy, 16 sessions.

They aren't huge goals. Stuff I have planned already like work/seeing someone, that sort of thing, then I put normal jobs in like clothes washing/vacumning/watching something I want to like Downton special.

We also have two marble jars and I move the marbles from one jar to the other to show how many days are left.

I remember early breaks being fine, it's only been as time has gone on that I've found it harder - I've been seeing for over three years so it's quite a stable relationship.

Have you benefitted from long term therapy? My short one feels too short. We just keep on finding new problems. Lots of time is used to fill questioners and looking at graphs. It is cognitive analytic therapy.

I've had short term counselling, but found the only thing that has really helped is building a relationship with someone like this over a long period of time.

I'm having a 2 week break from 2x week therapy, partly because it's Christmas and partly because I'm going away for a week. Does your therapist allow contact between sessions (even just sending an email and her not replying?) Mine allows an exchange of texts too and positively encourages it, when I'm struggling, so I have that to fall back on if need be (I wouldn't text over the Christmas break tho)
I've been seeing my lady for over three years too and it's been incredibly helpful. I have had lots of shorter term counselling, but my problem (attachment disorder) meant that I too needed some longer term help

We have texts planned in on certain days, but I know I could also contact her between times if I needed to.
