Anyone tried it? Am I going to get huge?

Thisishowyoudisappear Thu 06-Nov-14 18:33:30

What dose are you on?

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 18:48:29

75, I think? Only a week's worth initially.

Watching this thread with interest...
No experience of it myself tho.

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 19:03:51

It's twice a day BTW.

I'm on that dose, reduced from 100mg. I'm not huge (yet - currently scoffing ice cream). For me it's working well, it's sedating but with no hangover effect, and helps with pain. Hard to gauge effect on anxiety as I was already on other mess when I started it, however adding it into the mix seemed to be the breakthrough for me. I've also done a lot of therapy re anxiety, but it's a hell of a lot easier to engage in that when you're less of a nervous wreck. So all in all, a positive experience. I've been on it about 18 months, weight has remained roughly stable, it's a little higher than I'd like but still healthy BMI.

Other meds Freudian slip

Sorry, also missed the post when you said twice a day. I guess you might find it quite sedative, but that might be good if you're very anxious.

The first time I took it I felt a bit high/drunk the next morning (was quite nice actually) but that only happened once.

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 21:34:42

Ooh thanks for the personal experience This, I've never known anyone on it before so just reading side effects lists is a bit scary! I'm glad to hear your weight hasn't been affected. I'm desperate not to go back to being the size I used to be IYSWIM.

I wonder what difference the dose makes. I'm glad it is effective for you.

Thisishowyoudisappear Thu 06-Nov-14 21:58:56

You're welcome. Side effects lists are hair-raising reading!

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 22:25:02

I read one once which had "sudden death" listed confused

Thisishowyoudisappear Thu 06-Nov-14 23:09:32

at least if you had that you wouldn't have to worry about any of the others smile

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 23:11:32

I used to take 700mg twice a day. No weight gain.

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 23:29:03

Bonus, Sun smile

Thanks for your post. Its good to know weight gain isn't completely inevitable (though I'm prone to it so suppose I will still need to be careful). It sounds like it was good for you if the only reason you came off was pregnancy?

EnpoTree Thu 06-Nov-14 23:30:47

Ooh another one with no weight gain, good good grin thanks Seven.

Is there anything else anyone can think of that I should know about it?

I found it made my shake a bit worse, but to be honest, I've always had shaky hands!

I took a huge dose, too.

Other than that, it was good. Worked for four years or so before I had to change to something else. That was more because it interfered with my other meds, too.

foreverdepressed Fri 07-Nov-14 06:39:04

Has anyone tried pregabalin and then come off it again? If so did you experience any withdraw symptoms like with SSRI anti depressant?

I had horrific withdrawal symptoms and ended up being sent home from work twice and going to hospital three times.

EnpoTree Fri 07-Nov-14 10:45:08

That doesn't sound good Infi.

EnpoTree Fri 07-Nov-14 14:32:29

Too anxious about side effects to take anxiety drug grin

InfinitySeven Sat 08-Nov-14 10:59:01

Take it. I was the same and God I wished I'd started earlier.

Remember that you might never need to stop and if you do, you can start taking less so that the effects aren't so bad. I had to go cold turkey because the med interference made my organs fail.

I'd still take it again if I could. It was more than worth it for the relief it gave.
