My husband and i have seperated recently, he's been suffering with severe depression for 4 yrs, but the last year has been awful. I've had our family support person and the school tell me that they feel the kids emotional wellbeing they feel, are at risk if I'm living with him.

Anyway, the point here is, he turned up (again) on my doorstep, after being here a few minutes I asked him what he's taken coz he was acting funny, turns out he's taken his usual tablets (300mg lamotrogine, and 20 mg ecitalopram), but also has found himself some naproxen 250mg and taken 9 of them!

he wont go to hospital....what do i do?

Call an ambulance? Call NHS direct?

He needs to go to hospital, naproxen can cause intestinal bleeding and can be fatal. I don't know how bad 9 is but it can't be ignored. He'll have to go to A and E. The other drugs - is that just his normal daily dose?

Phone an ambulance and let the professionals assess him

reference

It's not known what a fatal dose would be in humans, but as up to 1500mg a day are prescribed I think he'll probably be ok.

I am not a medical professional, but having speed-read through a load of stuff, I would say don't lie awake worrying if he won't seek medical help.

Ambulance I'm afraid. Both for the potential physical effects and for his acute mental health needs.

Nsaids can be a problem with SSRIs

Thanks for the advice....its so hard knowing what to do for best anymore. I'm so exhausted from it all for so long now.

anyway, decided i wouldn't be able to sleep for worrying about what could happen, so called 111 had a long chat with them, they felt he should be in hospital, given both the tablets and the mental heath needs. So ambulance just taken him now.

he wont take help from anyone else but me, and I am really struggling now. Especially as he was already getting stressed with me coz I'd called them and now he has to go to hospital. He said all is wanted was for me to look after him.

Mrs Hectic Thanks you did the right thing. You can't look after him in the way he needs right now. It must be awful, I'm so sorry.
