Hi all I'm new on here
I've been on citalopram for 4 months started off on 5mg then 10mg and now I'm on 20mg starting 2 months ago. i have been feeling 'normal' again much much happier. orignially i was put on them for panic attacts though flound they helped my emotions alot so probably panic attacts triggered by depression? ive felt really well until recently the last week I've felt really low. I've gained a lot of weight and now feel I look pregnant because of the shape I am. Sex drive well there isn't one?! No urge what so ever. Last night I cried after intercourse due to sensation loss and feel fat!
I've booked an appointment with doctor invade its the medicine? Wondering if it wears off of I've become immune?

I'm pretty sure one of the side effects of ssris is loss of libido.

I had the opposite effect in that it made me lose a horrific amount of weight way too fast. 4 months in is a relatively short length of time - you're doing the right thing talking to your doc though.

They may suggest another ssri or if you want to come off - stress if you want to cut down it's an option to discuss.

It definitely doesn't wear off - it has a pretty long half life and if you do feel like cutting down, the advice is to do it very, very slowly.

And a x for you

Thank you
Went to doctors today. Weight gain and libido definitely side effects of tablets. Having a thyroid check Monday just in case that why reason of weight gain plus my mother ha under active thyroids too. Lowering dose to 10mg to see if it help though signed off whilst they are lowered. Hopefully not too much of a rough ride down
