Feeling much better on sertraline - should I still do CBT?

Hi
I have been taking sertraline for 10 weeks now, and feel so much better. Infact I'd go as far to say I'm back to my 'old self'. I take it for anxiety and depression, and this is my second time around. I took it for 6 months 8 years ago too.

My doc suggested CBT so that I don't end up back in this position in another 8 years (or 2 years or whatever) and use it to help get to the root cause of the anxiety.

Any advice? Do people find it helpful?

I obviously want to stop anxiety for good - but at the moment I feel good, so a bit unsure if I need it/should do it.

Thanks

YES! It is really helpful for anxiety. I was referred for it when I had PND, and I didn't get the appointment until DS3 was 1 1/2 (ridiculous, I know) and I went along and said 'I don't need it now' but I kind of still did. I was much better by then but I learnt so much. In fact I found it helpful perhaps because I was feeling more rational and calmer, so I could take it all in.

I think it is still useful as it teaches you skills that, even if you don't need them right now, can be useful in future. I would do it even if you are not sure you need it

It can help for anxiety but in addition it can be attributable to lifestyle so try it as an option and see where you go from there if it doesn't help then go back to your GP. That is what they are there for.

Don't give up asking for help!

HTH.
