Exhaustion or something more?

DS sleeping terribly just now and I'm finding it hard to get back to sleep once he's finally settled. also have 3 yo, finding everything so hard just now. stressed that even keeping on top of the housework is hard. too tired to do anything if I do get a break. DH is great but works shifts and no family close by.

Sorry am rambling but its been a hard weekend. not sure if its just the sleep deprivation that's making me feel down. Discussed ADs with GP a few months ago but didn't go ahead.

Hi there,
sleep deprivation can be deadly and would definately contribute to a fair bit of how you're feeling. Is there a particular reason DS is sleeping less well at the moment - or just how things are now? You mentioned your DH works shifts - are they at night - and always so - just wondered if there was any way he could do a couple of nights with DS and give you the chance to catch up on some sleep? Else can he take up more of the housework while DS is sleeping badly so you might have the chance to nap in the day? Try and be kind to yourself, its not a disaster if the house isn't immaculate (mine sooo isn't wink) Given you've discussed ADs implies you've been finding things tough for a while? If it was me I'd be tempted to see how I was in a week's time and then decide whether to go back to the GP. Take care, take it as easy as you can and be kind to yourself. All the best.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. My moods have always been a bit up and down and I think the exhaustion just exacerbates it. DH does help loads when he can and is great round the house.

Its affecting my DD I think, I'm knackered or DH takes her out and she just wants her mummy then I'm crabby with her, poor thing.

Have made a doc appointment for Friday (about something else) so will see how I am then.

You're welcome. Yes exhaustion can be deadly like that. Glad to hear you have a lovely DH smile. I know exactly what you mean about DD wanting her mummy - mine is exactly the same, DH is taking her to school this week (which is great for me) but she leaves the house in tears cos I'm not taking her hmm. But I am learning that it is important to look after yourself too - I have felt better the last couple of days because of it. Glad to hear you've got the Doc option on Friday. Take care.
