I am feeling a physical need for sunshine. Not just I need a holiday, it is a yearning for sunlight. I am considering a light box but just wonder if they really work? That's it really!

I've just bought one - I don't know whether it's a placebo effect, but it does seem to help me feel morea awke and perk me up. It's certainly shown me how dark it is in my study (I work from home) and it helps my eyes when I'm working on the laptop.

I bought my light from Lumie (google search should turn up the site). It was super-pricy at £120, but they offer a 30 day, money-back guarantee that you can return it (at their expense) if it doesn't work. I'm happy with that - if it works to cheer me up/keep me awake, £120 is a bargain. It comes with a 3 year guarantee, too.

Latest report is that it seems to have reduced my appetite. I find I always start craving sugary stuff and put weight on at this time of year, but - after a week - I'm not interested in chocolate any more. Seems to good to be true, but I don't think I'll be returning it at this rate!

I bought one for my mum a couple of years ago. She uses it regularly from about the end of Oct and swears that it has helped her not to feel depressed in the winter months. Who cares if it's the placebo effect?! Smile

Hello

Does anyone know if these help with Vit D deficiency?

Also, how exactly do you use them?

dontrunwithscissors, it's amazing that it's helped with chocolate. I'm the same and always crave sweet stud but more so during the grey dark short days. In fact this years lack of sun has meant I've been eating more than usual all year? :(
