Initial psych appointment tomorrow. Scared.

I have antenatal depression and went to the GP for help last week. She was very concerned and referred me on, with the result that I have an appointment with a psychiatrist tomorrow. In the meantime I have started on sertraline.

I'm scared about the appointment, don't want to talk about it, worried it won't do any good anyway. Baby due in 7 weeks and I need to be better by then. Any reassurance?

I know how scared you feel but try and remember he's only another doctor and he wants to help you. He or she will ask you how you're feeling, assess whether you're on the right medication and see whether you need any extra support. Hopefully you'll come away feeling positive with a plan in place to help you feel better.
