Constant state of panic

I suffered very bad postnatal anxiety following the birth of my son eight months ago. I have had all kinds of odd symptoms and now I have a new one...all of a sudden I find myself in a complete state of utter panic, convinced that something dreadful is going to happen. That I'm going to die, that life ends at death etc etc. it's terrifying. I have suffered panic attacks but this seems different as it can last for days at a time. Like a constant panic attack. I'm still breastfeeding and I'm wondering if my son taking less and less milk from me has something to do with it. Any suggestions/advice welcomed.

Hi that sounds very similar to the anxiety based PND i had after the birth of my twins.
It could be that the reduction in milk is having a hormonal impact. Good idea to go and see your GP or health visitor. Many people think that CBT can help with this.
At the same time try and build in significant amounts of deep breathing into each day. Put your hands on your abdomen and breath in and out to the slow count of four. (Your abdomen should go up and down rather than your chest).
ALso cut down on sugary drinks/ tea/coffee. And try things like camomile tea.

Hope things things ease really quickly x

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply Kizzie. I suppose most of all I'm wanting reassurance the old me isn't 'lost' forever. When did you notice improvements? X
