How do I learn to chill out?

Lately I've been getting what I can only describe as 'irritated' by everything. Mainly noise and mess at home. I know it doesn't really matter but I find myself getting hugely wound up by things like having to pick up the kids stuff for what feel like the millionth time, or brushing the kitchen floor.

The noise of the tv gets me going, as does the kids bickering. All little stuff but I get really irritated by it all and can't just seem to let it go on in the background. I try to ignore it all, and then do a big tidy up at night but I just can't seem to do it.

I feel like I'm constantly shouting 'turn that down' 'stop arguing' 'pick that up' (and turning into my mother!)

I'd love to be more laid back and let things wash over me more. Any tips?

Are these feelings new to you or not. If not, then maybe you need to try yoga and/or learn to do breathing exercises and meditation. If they are new, I would monitor yourself as you may be need to visit your GP for help/advice

I suppose I've always been a bit like this. I wouldn't say it's out of control (I did have a period of depression about 3yrs ago and it's not like that) but I do feel like I'm too highly strung and need to calm down a bit.

It feels like I'm getting stressed out unnecessarily and making things harder than they need to be. I feel like I'm constantly interrupted too Blush and get annoyed when I'm trying to do something and the kids interrupt wanting me to do something else.

I know life is just like that when you have kids and when they were younger I seemed to just accept it, but I feel like there should come a time when they can start doing things for themselves (and it's just not happening!) they're 9 and 5.

I have recently started taking beta blockers for migraine prevention and have wondered if it's got worse since then, but it's not really mentioned as a side effect and if anything BBs are also used to treat anxiety so shouldn't make those type of symptoms worse.
