Fluoxetine - and so sleepy!

Hi all, am on 20mg fluoxetine, am now on my fifth week on it and feeling better but I feel so sleepy, I just want to nod off. I take it in the morning and by early afternoon I am nearly asleep. Do you think this will wear off? Also do you think I should go with it and nap (which leaves me groggy) or try and fight it off? Thanks.

Is it not possible to take it in the evening?

Hi madmouse well I did try that when I first started and found I couldn't sleep, but I guess it's worth a try - it did make me feel more jittery to begin with. I did notice that my second pack was made by a different manufacturer from the first although still same generic fluoxetine 20mg, do you think that could have made any difference?

it should not make an appreciable difference as controls are so tight but I'm sure you could notice the difference if you are particularly sensitive to it. (saying that as someone who just this weekend had a massive reaction to 10mg citalopram!!)

Have you had your meds reciewed? Is fluoxetine the right med for you?

sorry 'reviewed' not 'receiwed' - you can tell I'm not quite the same yet!!

It gets better. I'm now on week 7 and I'm no longer nodding off in the afternoon. A nap isn't a bad thing as it's doing what your body is asking.

I'm on fluoxetine too, I was really zombie-like for the first week, and very tired until about the 7th week on it... Hopefully in your case it's just a side effect that will wear off in time.

Go to bed as early as you can for the moment, unless you can fit in a nap and have a strong coffee afterwards to wake you up!

Hi all, thanks for the comments, funnily enough I haven't been feeling too bad the past couple of days, so hopefully it is wearing off a bit. Thanks.
