Any ideas of what I can do to stop it developing? Just want to feel better I'm so low and tired, even though I'm getting plenty sleep, don't want to get up to see to DD, feel like she's better off with other people.

My very personal advice is talk to someone, and quickly. I battled on for 6months before talking to anyone. Whether it be a family member, DP or HV. I personally struggled to talk to other mums because I felt they were all better at being a mum than me. I eventually broke down at a routine appt for my DC at 10months old. From that point I got amazing support from my HV and then a specialist nurse. The thing I learnt was that no one can tell that you have or haven't got PND, it's how you feel in yourself. Talk to someone who can help - it's the loneliest time in the world otherwise. Good luck, I hope i've helped - you're already brave because you've posted on here.

Hiya - I've just been diagnosed with PND. I struggled on for about 3 months trying to 'pull myself together' but finally admitted that I needed help and went to see my GP. I haven't seen a HV in about 5 months, so that wasn't my natural first port of call. It was very hard to admit that I needed help, but after a week on meds I already feel a lot better and am coping with day to day stuff. I've been prescribed Lustral as I am still breastfeeding my 7month year old son.
For the first time in months I am starting to enjoy my son, not resenting him and I even realised yesterday that there was a bird singing in my back garden and smiled to myself. A far cry from last week when I felt like I was acting out my own life as opposed to living it, felt like there was a pane of glass between me and the rest of the world and I thought that being hit by a bus (not in a major way) would be a good way to have a break for a while, relinquishing all responsibility and getting some sleep.
So please go to see your GP - don't try to put on a brave face, please speak to somebody.

Hi scaryfairy, you sound pretty low, I would add another voice saying seek help from the GP. Antidepressants and talking therapy can make everything a lot better. It is lovely to hear Ruthselina saying how much better she is feeling - you forget what feeling happy is like.
In the meantime, make sure that you get plenty of, preferably unbroken, sleep. Try to eat reasonably and try to get out for a walk every day.

Thanks for the advice. I'm having a really good day today so hoping it's just been a low couple of days.
