Tomorrow I'm having my first session of hypnotherapy, which I'm hoping is going to help with my anxiety.

Has anyone else tried this and did it help?

I have. I found it helped me hugely. And I felt absolutely amazing after each session.

Thanks Becky, I'm feeling even more anxious than usual becuase I'm panicking about the hypnotherapy.

Good to hear someone else had a good experience.

My daughter had a session when she was extremely anxious about appearing in the school play. She'd been having nightmares and seemed to be properly depressed at the prospect.

I have to say the session was brilliant and had superb results.

The hypnotherapist also gave her a cd meditation to put on every night before going to sleep. She always slept before she got to the end.

She says it COMPLETELY worked 100% and she really enjoyed the rehearsals and performances.

It worked quite well for me too when I was feeling very unsupported and wobbly during pregnancy.

It's very clever.

I hope it works for you.

Sadly it did not work for me. It did have a short term effect, but did not solve my particular problem in the way I had hoped it would. Mind you, it may not be possible for anyone to do this. Please will you come back and let us know how it went. I am intrigued. Hope it helps, anxiety is a bully.

Saw hypnotherapist last wednesday. Was a really good session, got on really well with the lady, she's very astutue.

Wasn't what I was expecting at all, was more like a guided meditation. I had got it into my head that it was going to be like a counselling session for my subconcious and all sorts of unpleasant things would come up.

She thinks I've got mild Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Already feeling better and starting to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Starting to think I can get through this difficult time and move on.

I am interested to know more about this, and hope you will post again. I tried it years ago to help with pain, but no luck.

Is this available on NHS now by any chance?

Don't know if you can get it on the nhs.

I'm paying £55 a session, and get a cd of the meditation/hypnosis from each session so can continue at home. (live in south east)

It's anxiety about something unpleasant that happened to me 7 years ago. Had loads of counselling at the time.

Unfortunately it's all reared it's ugly head again and I've not been coping. Really want to beat the anxiety and get on with my life again.

Good Luck Ballyxxx - let us know how you get on.

My second session is tonight, can remember this time last week waiting for first session was so nervous and frightened about it....this week am excited!

Know things aren't that simple and still have a long way to go with sorting out emotions, but feel so much more positive already.

I sometimes listen to a self help hypnosis download for anxiety. It's like having a bit of 'me' time. You can get them at www.holisticheartbeatstore.com and there are lots of other sites if you google it. :)
