CBT in Richmond area

My little girl (7yrs) is struggling with anxiety (maybe panic attacks?). The GP has recommended CBT but the wait for NHS treatment is months. We live near Richmond, can anyone recommend a good psychologist?

Can I just say, if you can afford to pay for CBT then do, as I went to see my GP in January, had to wait until June for my 'assesment'- which deemed me as needing CBT, and now its almost november and I'm still waiting.

Almost a year of nnothing. :(

Hope your DD bnefits from it

When my DS was having anxiety problems (around food) my GP was going to refer us here - www.berkshirechildanxiety.org.uk/
Actually he'd have been too young for it (he's 5 and they used to take that age, but don't anymore). We never actually went - thankfully everything resolved itself. But the GP was very encouraging about it. I know its a bit away from you, but just M25, M4 and not too far from M4. But I guess a plus is that their specific area of expertise is young children. You could always give them a ring and ask if there was anywhere else they could recommend for child specific CBT.

Polly ask your dopctor to refer you to the CAMHS team in your area - they should arrange for an assessment and you shoud hopefully be seen a lot quicker.

Even if they can not get you the treatment quicker than the doctor has advised they will be bale to support you and her through some of the stuff that is happeneing.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for all the advice, I can't believe I got responses and so quickly especially on a Saturday night (not X Factor fans then!). Someone has suggested that I contact The British CBT & Counselling Service, website looks good //www.thebritishcbtcounsellingservice.co.uk, anyone heard of them? Will pass it on if they are any good.
