sorry you are my 1st venting point, my dear dad aged 66 has been diagnosed with bipolar and sent to a psychiactric hosp. It's horrid there, have to go through 4 locked doors to see him, then when do see him can't get to speak to any-one who know's what going on. He's been in the same clothes for 5 days which is just not him, god, just don't know where to turn, he just keeps sayin he has to die as he's no use on earth, any help plse

Oh dear, how upsetting for you.
Has he ever been mentally unwell before? 66 is very old to be developing bipolar for the first time.
He should have a key nurse you could talk to. Also his consultant should do a ward round once a week so you could ask to meet with them then. Go in with a list of questions as that might help you remember everything you want to say.

I would mention his clothes as well. Chances are he may be too agitated to be persuaded to get changed, but it's worth drawing their attention to it anyway.
hope that helps
