Fasting / 5:2 diet

16:8 - a query

Hi all. I have done 5:2 for years successfully. I was strict after my second child, lost about 1 1/2- 2 stones and then used it to maintain. I have put on about 3/4 stone over lockdown and found 5:2 is not working so well now. This is probably partly due to working from home and home schooling at same time. Plus the start of the peri menopause. I have decided to switch to 16:8 to see how that goes. If I’m strict Monday - Friday but relax a bit on weekend, will that undue all the good work?. I do need to have some balance which is why 5:2 worked so well for me for ages. Thanks!

I think the only thing you can do is try it and see. Everyone's different, but you will soon find out what happens when you have x, y or z and can then decide what you feel is worth it and what isn't. I have had some success with IF and had Saturday night zooms with family as treat time - I'd usually have some wine and cheese or peanuts or something. And then back on the wagon on Sunday morning (easy as I never feel like eating when hungover 😁)

Usually I just adjust the time of my window on the weekend so I am still fasting but I start and stop eating earlier.

I do this and on a Friday night I go a bit wild with booze and then I eat early on sat morning and don't fast that day. I still make sure that I don't go over my set calories 1400 on that day so doesn't seem to ruin anything. On week 4 and I've lost 10lb so I'm half way there!
