Morning! Am starting Fast800 today. Anyone care to join me?
Any tips from those who have done it before?
I’ve only been up 2 hours and all I’ve thought about is food so far! I’m surprised how often I think about it!

Is that the one where you do two days of 800 calls? I had great success with this prior to xmas, lost 6lbs in four weeks which I was thrilled with! I'm starting again in the new year, so I will happily join you in a few days. I found skipping breakfast, a tin of tomato soup for lunch, then a slimmed down version if my usual evening meal worked well.

Good luck OP!

Hi, I'm sat in bed reading the book! Doing this with my husband in January. Are you following a set plan or using your own recipes? Good luck!

Yes I'm starting....again....today! I'm sort of doing 16/8 and eat between 800/1000 calories. Good luck

I think the second stage is 800kcals for 2 days a week. The first stage (for me as I’m morbidly obese) is 800kcals a day for anywhere between 2-12 weeks.
Glad to hear you’ve been successful with it!

Hi, I'm restating fasting today. Not Fast800 but with the Jason Fung programme on The Fasting Method website. I was on it over the summer and lost 2 stone and felt great, but some has crept back on so I need to get back on the wagon.

Hope it's OK to join here with a slightly different programme!

That’s great - I’m ordering the book today but I didn’t want to wait til the books arrives as I could have an extra Kg to lose if I let myself eat all the chocolate that’s left in the house!
Good luck for when you start.

I did it earlier this year and lost 2.5 stone in 12 weeks. It was so easy! Really recommend the books and had the new one as a Christmas present. The recipes are great, my OH are the same as me in the evenings. Just remember to drink enough water and eat the right amount of protein each day and you can't go far wrong. I used my fitness pal to track my calories/protein.

The TFM website is expensive, but it's a very active and really supportive community. There are lots of lessons about fasting you can listen to and there are weekly group challenges you can join. I found it very motivational in the summer.

I did F800 earlier this year and have now lost 4 stone, it’s a great way to kickstart your lifestyle and that’s how you need to think about it.
First thing I’d advise is being kind to yourself - if you have a day that doesn’t go exactly to plan, don’t get fixated on what damage 1 day will do - ie. precious little, think about the long term goal - to be healthier.
Plan your meals using a tracker, it reduces the temptation and also makes it easier to see what’s working for you.
Try to stick to the time restricted eating but find hours that fit your lifestyle.
Make sure you’re having full fat versions of dairy, it really does make a difference.
Drink lots of water!
Use the recipe books - they’re really user-friendly and I’ve used them to adapt lots of things I’d usually cook.
Good luck!

Dh and I started Fast800/Blood Sugar Diet in the late summer after watching the lose a stone in 3 weeks programme. We did 4 weeks strictly then stuck to the principles but not 800 cals since.

DH is now bang in the middle of ideal BMI fur the first time in his life and has been maintaining for the past 2 mths.

I have lost just over 2 stone and moved from obese into overweight. The first stone came off in the first strict month and I’ve been losing approx 1lb a week since we eased up until this week. I have another 2.5stone to loose to get into healthy BMI but my next target is just to loose another stone (get into a weight starting with 13 instead of 14) and maintain that for a while.

I really enjoy the recipes and don’t really miss most carbs (except crisps - I love crisps). I got Tom Kerridges Dopamine recipe book for Christmas and we’re getting back in to meal planning today using some of his recipes.

Make sure you drink lots of water and get the distraction techniques ready for when the cravings kick in (I find anything I can do with my hands works - knitting/crochet etc). The first 2-3 weeks were not great for me but it’s worth pushing though Grin

I started this in July and combined it with intermittent fasting 16:8. I have lost four stone and gone from being obese to having a healthy BMI.

I think the thing to remember is that the first couple of weeks are tough but it gets much easier. Don't go overboard with exercise during the first few weeks whilst your body is adjusting. Keep drinking lots of water and just be aware of hidden sugars in things. I have lost weight with various diets in the past but really feel that this is one I can maintain one as I am no longer calorie counting just sticking to the principles and not feeling deprived. Good luck OP.

Not really! It's not just about reducing your calories - it's about the type of calories you consume, to reduce your carbohydrate intake, and also with the introduction of intermittent fasting.

BIWI · 27/12/2020 13:40

... oh, and it's also about 800 calories per day every day for up to 12 weeks.

Well, I'm 23hrs fasted and about to break with avocado and salmon.

I feel so much better already, I should never have stopped IF. I just live in a fog when I'm eating carbs multiple times a day.

I have done some if before , and it’s relatively easy . The 800 limit was a bit harder but with focus is doable

I’m joining tomorrow. I don’t have any books so trying to wing it with some low carb high protein recipes under 800 Cals- do we think this would work or should I be buying books? If so, which ones?

@reefedsail so you feel there are more benefits than just weight loss?

@Cooltalkin good luck!

@Motivateinmotion I hope your first day goes well! I’m winging it until I’ve read the book I’ve ordered.

My first day went well, but I’ve already noticed the sugar cravings - it’s weird, Like there’s something missing from my mouth. I’ve never let myself get to this point before, the craving is really strong Sad

@Ihateme I’ve ordered the fast 800 book and recipe book too so trying to wing it until they arrive. I’m not even sure if I’m meant to be low carbing or is it keto? Am I allowed dairy milk (only having milk in coffee during eating window not fasting)? So really am winging it!

Report
Ihateme · 28/12/2020 12:24

My guesses are keto but dairy is fine within the 800kcal window?

I'm in. Started a 42 hour fast this morning, ate dinner yesterday, will eat again tomorrow lunchtime. Have done a few 24 hour fasts so feel reasonably prepared. Love intermittent fasting especially as I'm not one for counting calories!
