Fasting / 5:2 diet

On holiday and have gained weight

Here how my diet has been on holiday
Omelette for breakfast with veggies (raw)
Black coffee
Lunch goats cheese salad with nuts
Evening another salad (admittedly dressed) and grilled Veg platters (just veggies in olive oil).

Two large apples for last few days and a rye baguette for lunch yesterday. For me this is much better eating (challenge for me having breakfast as opens the appetite) wasn’t hungry.

Yet finding clothes tighter, belly feels like sponge and I’ve gained! Grrr. I know it hasn’t been 500 kcal but no sugar (apart from apple), no bingeing.

Years ago I’m sure I would have lost weight on such a diet. Sigh maybe portions are just too big.

I always gain weight on holiday - it's pretty much impossible not to. Apples always make me hungrier due to the high sugar content. I'm sure you'll be fine once you're back home.

Could be the cheese and oils, also are you drinking on holiday?

Alcohol?

Omelette could have 4 eggs if a big one.

Salads can be very calorific, eg cheese and oil, ask for dressing and toppings on the side?

Something like 40 cals in 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Veggies doused in it will be high calorie.

Hmmm thank you. The omelettes are large (premise mixture so can’t tell how many eggs are in it). Also everything is swimming in olive oil but kept thinking but it is so good for me. Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean you can eat as much as you want.

Yep everything also has lots of cheese. I suppose I was thinking it’s ok it’s low carb and with lots of vegetables. Thanks for that folks. Sigh.

Ended up having a slice of rye bread for breakfast with a few walnuts but felt my appetite is a bit more revved than usual ....

Ah well, it’s holiday but was felt I was forgoing all the sugar and bread and should be stick thin Confused

I gain on holiday due to increased fluids and alcohol and I also retain water when it's hot. Plus I have a pudding whereas I normally wouldn't. I'm sure you'll level out when you get home.

Sounds like you are consuming a lot of calories

If you consume a lot more than you burn - even healthy calories - you will gain weight

Alcohol increases hunger too
