Between 7pm last night and 7pm tonight I only had the 500 cals you're "allowed" on the 5:2, but about half an hour ago (9pm) I was just so hungry I've had to eat again...so does that mean I've not succeeded in having a proper fasting day? Sorry if stupid question - am new to this and trying to work it all out... Confused

You haven’t quite survived your first fast day but you’ve given it a good bash.
Next time, you’ll do better.
What did you eat during the day? I always found that warm drinks tide me over. And there’s always the option of an early night if you’re hungry. Go to bed nice and early on a fast day 😀

Yes, should have gone to bed but 9pm a little too early and I was so hungry I don't think I would have been able to sleep! Grin So if I fasted from 7pm last night to 7pm today, what time would I have been able to resume eating normally again?

You start eating normally the following day at breakfast time. So for example, your fast day is a Monday. You eat normally on Sunday. Then on Monday you have 500 calories. Then on Tuesday you eat normally again.

As Gibble1 says, you just eat 500 calories on one day, technically over 24 hours as you get 2 sleeps. Don't worry about missing for the first couple of times, it takes practice. The 5:2 thread in weight loss is very helpful.
